Who is Advanced Metrics?
Advanced Metrics is a mission driven Software as a Service (SaaS) company whose software are explicitly informed by system users throughout the development and deployment of each application. Advanced Metrics is SOC2 certified and holds “The Seal of HIPAA Compliance” through The Compliance Group. Caleb Moser and Tyler Ruenroeng are your main contacts for your implementation and training questions.
KIDnet is a web-based software application developed by Advanced Metrics that utilizes and reports on data drawn from the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) and other data collection tools. As part of the VBP workflow, data is collected and entered into the KIDnet software application. This includes CANS data as well as data related to treatment progress. Administrators are provided with outputs that show change over time as well as symptom reduction.
From logging into your account to administering the CANS, these resources will provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to access and utilize KIDnet based on your role. To accommodate adult learners, instructions have been provided in both print and video form. Video snippets have also been linked throughout the print guide where applicable.

FAQs
I am a little confused about the CANS training are you able to provide me with additional details?
- Master’s level clinicians and other identified clinical supervisors or directors should be trained in the CANS. CANS certification training consists of two (2), 3.5 hour sessions. Both trainings are to be taken within the same week.
- CANS training is provided by the Center of Innovation in Population Health on behalf of the Praed Foundation. You can contact livetraining@tcomtraining.com if you have specific questions about the CANS training and certification process.
- Once an individual is certified in the CANS they are able to implement other versions of the CANS (such as the CANS-Autism) and other TCOM tools (such as the ANSA).
- The CANS and the CANS-Autism are both available in KIDnet for data collection as part of the VBP package of available tools. This provides assessment options to support those implementing Evidence Based Practices, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
- You are not required to pay for the CANS training or provide a coupon code to access the training materials or certification test. Once it is confirmed that you attended both the TCOM and CANS Overview session, you will receive an email and you will be able to take the exam. If you are asked to do so, contact the Advanced Metrics Implementation Team Caleb Moser or Tyler Ruenroeng and they will work with you to ensure the Center of Innovation in Population Health updates their records accordingly.
What is the basic process for implementing this Value Based Purchasing model?
The Value Based Purchasing (VBP) model was developed in cooperation and collaboration with key stakeholders, including providers, so that the model is practice based. A child is evaluated, and the treatment team identifies an appropriate Evidence Based Practice (EBP). A treatment plan with associated outcomes is developed. Data is collected and entered into the KIDnet software application. This includes CANS data as well as data related to treatment progress. Administrators are provided with outputs that show change over time as well as symptom reduction.
What is the Value Based Purchasing (VBP) Initiative?
Value Based Purchasing (VBP) is a payment model that uses data to incentivize providers for reaching certain performance measures. The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) states that value-based programs and payment models are critical for improving quality of care, efficiency of services, and reducing costs (Roadmap to Whole Person Health, DHS). This model balances person-centered interventions and clinical effectiveness with a cost effective, performance focused approach. Additional information can be found on Beacon’s Website.
Will this initiative create more work for me?
The VBP initiative is designed to reduce the burden of data collection and reporting allowing clinicians to get back to spending time with clients. KIDnet is able to take collected data and create reports so you don’t need to calculate and create complicated change over time reports. By using the tools in KIDnet, you will be able to spend less time on tasks such as mothly reports, and more time focusing on your clients.
How do new staff sign up for trainings?
This initiative is designed to be sustainable, CANS and KIDnet trainings are available for new staff and those needing a refresher. Contact either Caleb Moser or Tyler Ruenroeng for any scheduling needs.
